Happenings Beyond the Lion

Sojourning

I'm a sojourner, living life's journey in this purple house with my husband, Josh, and two marvelous young humans, my children. We also have a cat, Sweetums, known to me as Sweety Todd, the demon cat of Fleet Street (she's not a demon or even mean, but Sweeney Todd is of one of our favorite musicals of all time and 'Sweetums' is a hideous name, in fact I can't think of a name that is worse, but that is what our daughter named her). So, Sweety Todd she is, to me.

I've decided to take a leave of absence from a career that has been such a huge part of who I am. It was a part of my purpose. I am a teacher; a Fifth Grade STEM teacher. My students were a calling and I gave it my all.

But, I'm going to step out of Room 612 for a bit. I'll spend time with God. I'll be a mom. I'll pour into my children all the goodness that's possible, until it's overflowing. I'll share with them the love and mercy of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I'll be a wife and I'll take extra time to love him. I'll make sure I show him how great his worth is to my heart. I'll volunteer. I'll rest. I'll live life.

I've never followed a blog, so I'm not exactly sure that I'm blogging for the same reasons others do, but I want to blog during this new chapter of my life for a number of reasons. First, I think it will be a great way to record our everyday life as a journal to look back on; to learn from; to remember. I also feel that it will be a way to hold myself accountable. If I blog that I'm going to do something, then I'll be less likely to back out of those grand ideas. Life's too short to back out of grand ideas! Of course, I also think life is more fun when shared with others. So, I'll live out this next chapter, laughing it up and crying it out, sharing with family, friends and anyone else interested, through this blog.

Disclaimer: Math and Science have always been my strongest subjects. I've never been good at Language Arts. I'm the third worst speller I know (my Dad is the worst and the other will remain anonymous). Feel free to correct my spelling, but be nice about it and leave my grammar alone.
